The EB-CMOS project aims at developping a new ultra-sensitive and fast detector for visible photon. A photocathode is coupled to a back-thinned CMOS sensor sensitive to single photo-electrons of a few keV and able to provide a full 2D frame around a cm2 every millisecond.

The first prototype has been fabricated in June 2007 in collaboration with the EB-CMOS group at IPN-Lyon see
and the Photonis company see. A picture is available below :

The targeted application is optical microscopy. Especially our device should allow biologists to investigate dynamical process inside cells.
