Nondestructive measurement of agricultural products by electric magnetic waves from X-ray to THz.

Résumé :

Qualities of agricultural products are measured by several types of sensing systems for their safety and security. For example, sugar contents and acidity of fruits are measured by near infrared spectroscopy technologies in fruit grading facilities, while machine vision systems give us fluorescent images for detecting injuries of fruits based on their fluorescent substances as well as information of fruit color, shape, and size in visible region. Since 30 micrometer to 3 millimeter wavelength of THz range is suitable for measurement of cells and intra-molecular motion, some examples applying to agricultural products are shown in this presentation.
