Time-Dependent Density Functional Calculations for Fusion and Fission

Résumé :

Three-dimensional time-dependent density functional calculations with modern Skyrme interactions became available in the late 1990s. They provided a new insight into low-energy heavy-ion reactions ; why fusion, fusion-fission, quasi-fission (fragmentation into a few pieces ; multi-nucleon transfer), and even deepinelastic type fragmentation (few nucleon transfer) appear as they are. Indeed, only three-dimensional calculations with modern Skyrme interactions can bring about a good comparison with experiments. Even for head-on collisions the spin-orbit force effects, which hold a large dissipation, cannot be reduced to the two-dimensional framework. Among other reaction dynamics, the key to understanding low-energy collision events is a dominant process called charge equilibration, which is essentially associated with the collective transportation of nucleons taking into account the Fermionic statistics. In this talk, starting with fusion events, very recent results of a beyond mean-field type treatment studying quasi- and spontaneous- fission events are presented.
