Fusion and Elastic scattering of 6,7Li + 28Si systems at near and well above barrier energies

Study of reaction mechanism loosely bound stable projectiles reacting with light mass targets, at sub- and near-barrier energies, appears to be an interesting and challenging problem at the present time. In the recent past we carried out some precise measurements of fusion cross-section (for the first time) and elastic angular distribution for reactions with loosely bound projectiles 6,7Li with light target 28Si, at energies ranging from below to well above the Coulomb barrier. The fusion measurements were done by characteristic g-ray method and also with evaporation a-method at different Pelletron facilities in India. Fusion excitation functions were compared with 1D BPM and other theoretical predictions and we have explored the effect of rotational coupling on fusion behaviour. The elastic angular distributions of 6,7Li + 28Si were also measured in the above mentioned energy region and analysed with two sets of optical model potential parameters (volume and surface type imaginary potentials). The threshold behaviour of the OM potential for the systems 6,7Li + 28Si was investigated around the barrier. Finally, the influence of breakup on fusion and elastic scattering will be discussed on the basis of CDCC analysis.
